A complete, hands-on learning experience designed for third-grade students at home. Each box includes a printed set of learning units along with the hands-on materials and supplies needed to complete the activities inside the books.
Parents don’t have to search for supplies, gather materials, or figure out what to prepare. Simply open the box and start learning. Each unit combines engaging lessons with hands-on activities that encourage children to explore, create, experiment, and discover.
Explore Science by Doing It
In Grade 3, students investigate forces, animals, fossils, plants, and weather through hands-on experiments and challenges. They will:
- ⚖️ Explore balanced and unbalanced forces with a fun guessing game using a balance scale.
- 🌀 Investigate pendulums by observing how they swing and predicting how changing the length will affect their motion.
- 🚗 Predict how far Blocky Car will roll and investigate how forces and motion affect its journey.
- 🧲 Solve a problem using magnets and discover how magnetic forces can be used to accomplish a task.
- 🧂 Make salt and pepper dance using static electricity and explore the effects of electrical forces.
- 🐦 Observe wildlife outside and investigate how animals have traits that help them survive.
- 🥄 Become a bird with a specialized beak by using different tools as pretend beaks to explore how animal traits affect the way animals get food.
- 🔬 Discover, sort, and count microfossils preserved in approximately 20-million-year-old sediment, exploring evidence of life from the distant past.
- 🌱 Grow new plants from cuttings by placing plant stems in water and observing them as they develop roots.
- 🌦️ Build a weather station and collect observations over the course of a week, including temperature, wind direction, and daily weather conditions.
These aren’t just activities to watch or read about. Students predict, observe, measure, investigate, sort, test, and make discoveries for themselves. Each unit turns science concepts into something students can see, touch, and experience—making learning both meaningful and fun.
