Scan Barcodes Day 5

Lesson Summary:

Students learn how Edison follows a track. They design a factory with paths for their robots to follow to help the employees.

What You'll Do:

Program your robot to follow a black line. Younger students can scan the barcode or students can write their own code. Students can create a track for their robot to follow inside a factory they design using either electrical tape or markers and paper. There are a lot of robotics used in industries and factories. Watch the movie about how robots help factory workers work more efficiently. Students work as a team and are challenged to design a factory to make anything they dream up (bikes, cupcakes, pickles etc). Every student must have a robot and decide what job their robot will accomplish in the factory. Have students draw out their factory on a large piece of butcher paper and decide how their team of robots will help the factory run. This lab might take more then one day. Have each student fill out their robotics journal with details on their factory and how the robot helps to run it.
